“No matter what other people are thinking or doing, your self-worth comes from within”
– Dr. Travis Bradberry
As Joey and Jason reach the third and final part of their series on Dr. Travis Bradberry’s article; “Are You Emotionally Intelligent?” ,they discuss the topics of stress, perfectionism and the importance of self-worth.
As aforementioned in part one of this series, stress is a prevalent theme throughout the article by Dr. Bradberry. Each of the 18 signs of high emotional intelligence (EQ) indicate a correlation in the reduction of stress. Key points such as the measure of an individual’s caffeine intake as well as their quality of sleep, lead directly to the stress levels of that individual.
The need to seek perfection can be a common problem amongst many individuals working in fast paced, charged-up industries such as real estate, however both agree this has been one of the key features they have both improved on over the years. Joey also mentions the book “Be Obsessed or Be Average” by Grant Cardone which was the catalyst to the start of The Grind podcast. He explains that the book helped him develop an attitude to be more positive and self-accepting when it comes to just “diving in” to work.
To wrap up the series, the final and possibly most profound sign on Dr Travis Bradberry’s list reads, “You Won’t Let Anyone Limit Your Joy”. This point, as Jason believes, is the fundamental piece to living a fulfilling life. Both Joey and Jason agree that on a personal level this is something they have improved on over time but aim to eventually reach a 10/10 score on this particular point.
