This week The Grind welcomes The Pitch Queen herself, Michelle Weinstein. She’s a Sales Strategist, Entrepreneur, and Innovator. She has over 20 years of sales experience, selling everything from multi-million dollar homes to Paleo meatballs. Her achievements include raising over $1M dollars for her last company, landing contracts with major retailers such as Costco and The Vitamin Shoppe, and pitching her way onto ABC’s Shark Tank.
Michelle reveals that her entrepreneurial tendencies began to show as far back as high school, where she saw an opportunity in the fact that ‘everyone has a pool in Phoenix’ and started a business teaching kids to swim in their own back yards. From Promo Girl to Cocktail Waitress to Retail Advisor it was clear she had a gift for selling. After a miserable couple of years in a safe, cubicle job in grey Seattle, she realised that it was time to answer her calling, go back to sunny Arizona and begin her sales career in earnest.
Joey playfully refers to this week as having been “REJECTION WEEK”; it’s a hot topic of conversation as lately he’s really been feeling the burn of those ‘No’s’. Michelle has great insight on how to manage that rejection through ‘detachment from the outcome’ and knowing your value’…
“Rejection? I’m immune to it.”
But more than handling rejection, Michelle has tips on how to avoid those rejections in the first place; in particular, the bane of the sales person’s existence: The Disappearing Act.
“People disappear because we ALLOW them to disappear”
Join Jason, Joey and Michelle as they discuss how to be authentic and genuine in your sales conversations, failing forward, going above and beyond to avoid no-shows, biggest rejections, why punctuality can be so key…
“If you’re not going to respect me and my time, then you don’t DESERVE my time.”
…and why you should never ask, “How can I help you?”
