“The secret to life is to fall 7 times and get up 8 times.”
Paolo Coelho, The Alchemist

The theme for the day is risk: not a discussion of strategy for war themed board games, but rather an exploration of how and when one should take advantage of life’s many opportunities.

To take more risks is to put yourself in the path of more opportunity. When presented with such a situation, ask yourself: will you regret not doing this? It is extremely rare to find someone who has taken a chance and then regretted it - for starters, how else would they have learned from the experiences?

Jason and Joey of course acknowledge that one cannot take all advantage of all opportunities, with hundreds presented to us at a constant rate - so the discussion turns to how one can weigh up the opportunities they are passing by vis-a-vis what they are choosing to do. And remember - the taking of such opportunities should by no means be solely motivated by financial reward. Consider the social, personal, and mental impact also.

We are always capable of doing more: no matter how pushed for time you think you are, you can make more for the right opportunity. You just need to be constantly assessing the opportunities presented to you. Adopt the right attitude, follow Joey’s three step plan (1. Take the opportunity; 2. Work your ass off to make it work; 3. If you fail, get back up) and you will realise that the fear of suffering is far greater than the suffering itself.
