They are in front of us, behind us, and we are flanked on both sides by an enemy that outnumbers us 29:1... They can’t get away from us now!” - Lieutenant General Lewis Burwell “Chesty” Puller

This week, Jason is living in The Suck. In the last 12 hours, things have “hit the fan” in a very bad way.

What makes this episode so extraordinary is that it serves almost as a real-time coaching session where we get to witness the 180 turnaround in Jason’s mind set…

After a short re-cap of last week’s episode and Miracle Morning check-in, Jason opens up and acknowledges that right now this second, he’s in a position as a leader where he is really struggling. So much so that he’s thinking he shouldn’t go into work, concerned that if his mind set is “in the gutter” he shouldn’t bring it into the office.

What follows is not so much a pep-talk, but a unique and rare opportunity to observe a pivotal conversation. This episode is a glowing example of WHY it is SO IMPORTANT to be vulnerable, to talk through our difficulties, fears, and the challenges we’re facing; because it took less than 40 minutes for Jason to go from feeling like he literally couldn’t face going into work, to realising that he has an opportunity to shine, put into practice all the work in personal growth that they’ve been doing, and be the person he aspires to be.

This is why we have the podcast. This is why we do personal development and personal growth…It’s for these moments, this is why we do this.”

Key themes and talking points include: finding the opportunity hidden in an obstacle, how to find perspective, leadership through seemingly insurmountable adversity, and how much pain are you willing to go through in order to be the person you want to be.

“It’s not what happens to you, it’s how you react to it.”

Joey points out that as a successful ambitious person, difficulty is what you sign up for. Namely, when you break through the ceilings of achievements you might find yourself on the floor of the next level. Finally, it dawns on Jason that it’s all been leading up to this moment, that now’s not the time to cower in the corner, now is the time to roll your sleeves up.

“If you don’t quit, you win.”

If you’ve enjoyed (or even not enjoyed) this podcast, Joey and Jason would be grateful of a review on iTunes, and would love some feedback from listeners.
